Long Term Needs for Communities after a Traumatic Event

After the cameras are gone and the shock has subsided, anger, grief and a multitude of other emotions and reactions set in. Returning to everyday life can be a struggle. Survivors and communities wonder how to manage their emotions, memories, grief and anxiety. They believe others have forgotten their pain and moved on. In reality, lives have been changed, stress reactions remain and survivors are on a long journey to recovery. The focus of how to support long term needs for survivors and communities include:

  • Long term stress reactions
  • How trauma is stored in the body
  • What complicates the road to recovery
  • Secondary trauma
  • Anniversaries
  • How to support people during recovery
  • Suicide

This training is designed for all communities. There is an emphasis on mental health needs.

The length of the training can range from 2-4 hours.
